After sell-out concerts year after year at Volcano Art Center, Rebecca Folsom is returning for another intimate acoustic concert.
An Evening with Rebecca Folsom is slated for 6:30 p.m. March 16 at VAC’s Ni‘aulani Campus in Volcano Village.
Folsom’s music has been described as having the soulfulness of Etta James, the abandon of Janis Joplin and a touch of folk songstress Joni Mitchell. An award-winning artist, she has performed on BBC radio and television and at Nashville’s Bluebird, New York’s Bitterend and Red Rock’s Amphitheatre in Colorado.
“She takes you from subtle ballads to knock-you-to-your-knees blues,” said KUNC Radio.
The Boulder, Colo., native, whose career spans 20 years, writes inspiring tales of human heartbreak, redemption and freedom. She shares those songs with exquisite intimacy in a solo performance.
“There is no place on earth that I want to be more,” Folsom said about performing on stage. “I’m happiest there, time flies there. It’s timeless, effortless and it brings me so much joy. My hope is always that it will bring other people joy, upliftment and awakening.”

Tickets for the March 16 concert are $20 for VAC members and $25 for non-members. Ticket-holders will be able to purchase beer and wine, as well as pupus.
Tickets are available online at www.volcanoartcenter.org, at VAC’s administration office in Volcano Village and at the VAC Gallery in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The last day to purchase tickets online is March 15.
Tickets also will be sold at the door the night of the show if they are not sold out.
Tickets will be held at Will Call on the day of the show or can be picked from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Ni‘aulani Campus before the concert.
Folsom also is offering the Art of Vocal Freedom workshop from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 17.
The workshop will merge art, singing and writing prose. Attendees will be able to work/play with all three artistic mediums at the same time.
Cost for the workshop is $50 plus a $10 supply fee.
