Kamehameha senior Pono Yanagi shot a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to capture the BIIF meet at the Waikoloa Kings course.
Hilo’s Riley Kaneshiro and Kealakehe’s Ethan Jaehn each shot a 72 to tie for runner-up. Hilo junior Ethan Hironaga and Waiakea junior Isaiah Kanno each fired a 74 to finish four strokes back.
Behind Kanno’s 74, Aiden Oki’s 79, Kobey Babas’ 83, and Scott Igawa’s 85, Waiakea pocketed its second straight team title with a 321 total. Hilo was second at 363.
For the girls, Waiakea sophomore Lacey Uchida won in her first appearance with a 2-over 74, edging Hilo’s Chanelle Hwang, who finished one stroke behind with a 75.
With Uchida, 74, Waiakea’s Elle Otani shot an 82, and Jillian Mitsuda had an 85 to help the Warriors seize their second straight team title with a 241 total.
Waiakea’s depth showed with Keirsten Saludares’ 77 and Kailey Oki’s 80. Both freshmen competed on the junior varsity level.
