Make no mistake, the Kamehameha senior deserves this honor on merit, striking out 14 in the Warriors’ quarterfinal victory Thursday at the HHSAA D-II tournament and adding two hits a day later in a semifinal loss.

But this is also a career nod for Atkins, one of the best at what he’s done for four years running in the BIIF.
