Skateboarder critically injured after being struck by car

A skateboarder was taken to Hilo Medical Center in critical condition after being struck by a car Tuesday night in Keaau.

According to a written Hawaii Fire Department statement, police were already on scene when they arrived and medics instituted advanced life support care immediately to the victim, a male.

The victim was not identified and there was no update on his condition.

The collision took place near the 10-mile marker on Highway 11.

The driver was uninjured.
