James Pierre Bowman Jr., 74, of Kohala died Aug. 16 at home. Benjamin “Benji” Soares Rapoza, 91, of Pahoa died Aug. 11 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver with the former Hilo Coast Processing Co., a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Pu‘uwaiopio Kupuna Softball Team and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. The late Mitsue “Betty” Nakagawa is survived by brother, Donald (Carol) Fukui of Aiea, Oahu, among others. His place of residence was inadvertantly misspelled in an obituary published Sunday. The Tribune-Herald regrets the error.
