Dillon Ah Chong • golf
The Kamehameha junior took down heavy hitters by winning clutch holes en route to a runner-up finish at the Hawaii State Junior Golf Association match play championship.
Ah Chong ousted Honolulu’s Toby Baladad, Marshall Kim Jr., the top seed, and Jake Sequin, the reigning HHSAA champion, each time by winning a 19th hole, en route to reaching the title match at Ka`anapali on Maui.
Ah Chong tried to rally Sunday on the back nine in the final before falling to Oahu’s Noah Koshi 2 and 1.
