As of 11 a.m. today, Hurricane Juliette was about 450 miles south-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula. Juliette is a Category 1 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph, moving northwest at 10 mph.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 15 miles from the storm’s center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles.
Additional strengthening is anticipated for the next day or two, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami. Juliette is expected to begin weakening begin by Thursday and should be a tropical storm when it reaches the Central Pacific either during the weekend or early next week.
