The Big Island Substance Abuse Council recently launched its fitness program, Ola Kino, which promotes health and wellness among individuals recovering from substance use and mental health issues.

“The overall goal of the program is to provide education, guidance and tools that promote positive effects on the client’s lives during recovery,” said BISAC CEO Dr. Hannah Preston-Pita. “We are extremely thankful for HMSA and their donation of health and fitness incentive items to our program.”

HMSA’s commitment to its communities and its mission to promote healthy living is aligned with the purpose of BISAC’s Ola Kino program.

“HMSA is happy to be a part of the program and would like to thank BISAC for doing the work that they do in our community” said Diane Kent of HMSA.

Since 1964, BISAC has inspired individuals and families to reclaim and enrich their lives in the wake of the ravages of substance abuse. It offers a continuum of services that are culturally appropriate and aligned with the ever-changing behavioral health field.
