State Sen. Russell Ruderman will present “Citizen Skills for Forging Hawaii’s Own Green New Deal” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in UCB 100 at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.
Ruderman will focus on what citizens will need to do to promote Hawaii’s Green New Deal and social change generally through legislative action. With the federal government turning away from action on climate change, many states and municipalities throughout the nation are creating their own plans and legislation.
What should Hawaii’s Green New Deal look like?
What are the choices and challenges from the threat of climate change?
How can we act collectively to protect our future and minimize the effects of climate change?
How can Hawaii’s residents get the government to take action to avoid the tipping point before climate change becomes irreversible?
Ruderman has served as the state senator for Puna and Ka‘u since 2012. A committed environmentalist, he advocates for better environmental practices, sustainability and responsive government. He is also the CEO of the Island Naturals health food stores.
