Leo R. Audette, 63, of Hilo died Oct. 12 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Holyoke, Mass., he was the owner of the former Audette Air Co. and eventually retired to Hilo. A scattering of ashes will occur at sea off Maui during a celebration of life ceremony later this month. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org. Roland Sadayoshi Hamasaki, 99, of Hilo, formerly of Laupahoehoe, died Oct. 21 at home. Born in Kapulena, he was a retired farmer and member of Papaaloa Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. Born in Pahala, he was a truck driver for Ka‘u Agribusiness, a U.S. Army Korean War veteran, member of USTA tennis league, ILWU bowling league, KMC bowling league and HI Low golf club. Phyllis Haruko Masaki, 93, of Honolulu died Sept. 29 at Maluhia Hospital. Born in Hilo, she later moved to Honolulu and was employed by Pan American Airways as an accountant. Private services held. Maile “Aunty Maile” Abigail Auwae Mauhili, 85, of Keaukaha died Oct. 19 at home. Born in Ola‘a, she was a retired Hilo High School campus security officer, founder of the Kailana Canoe Club, board member of Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association and the Moku O Hawaii Canoe Racing Association and member of Malia Puka O Kalani Catholic Church.
