A a license plate and vehicle information number on the pickup truck was allegedly taken from the woman’s truck and installed in the stolen truck. Police have charged a 34-year-old Mountain View man with several offenses in connection with driving a stolen Nissan pickup truck.
Christopher Lucrisia is charged with unauthorized control of a stolen vehicle, habitual property crimes, possession of confidential personal information, driving without a license and fraudulent use of license plates.
Police say Lucrisia, who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, was spotted at a Kurtistown service station and convenience store. He was driving a 2004 Nissan pickup truck that had been reported stolen Nov. 1 in Hilo and was originally red. The truck had been repainted silver.
Lucrisia’s bail was originally set at $31,000.
At his initial court appearance Monday, Lucrisia pleaded not guilty to all charges. Hilo District Judge Jeffrey Hawk reduced Lucrisia’s bail to $6,250 and ordered him to return for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. today.
