The Volcano Village Artists Hui will host the 33rd annual Art Studio Tour and Sale during the Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 29-Dec. 1.
Meet the artists in their studios and see artwork in a wide variety of media including hand-blown art glass, ceramics and fiber art as well as paintings, prints, photography and more. The artwork will be on display and available for purchase at six studios and galleries in the heart of Volcano Village.
New this year will be art making demonstrations at each of the studio locations on Sunday, Dec. 1.
Watch Ira Ono create a ceramic mask at 11 a.m., and “make and take” your own earrings with Zeke Israel. Erik Wold will do clay demonstrations and Lisa Louise Adams will show her water color painting skills. Emily Herb will discuss her glazing techniques, Charlotte Forbes Perry will show her method of sgraffito on clay tiles and Joan Yoshioka will paint her miniatures, all at their respective studio locations.
At the Volcano Art Center location, Elizabeth Miller will share her metal tooling techniques and Volcano-area artist Joe Laceby will do hot metal forging demos throughout the day Sunday, just to name a few of the offerings. Hui founding member Chiu Leong will show his pottery and photography at the VAC location.
Also showing their artwork this year are Pam Barton, Margaret Barnaby, Misato and Michael Mortara, Ricia Shema, Cynee Gillette-Wenner, Randy Sutton and Scott Pincus.
A special drawing for artwork contributed by each of the artists is planned at the end of the sale.
