Police are investigating the stabbing death Wednesday of a 4-year-old girl at a home in the Hawaiian Beaches subdivision in Pahoa.
According to a police statement, Puna patrol officers responded at 11:44 a.m. to a report of a girl with an injury to her neck.
The child was taken by ambulance to Hilo Medical Center, where she died.
Hilo Juvenile Aid Section detectives are investigating the incident, which is classified as manslaughter.
It is unknown from the statement, which was released after business hours, if anyone was taken into police custody for the stabbing.
