Frederick Fred Eugene Capellas, 81, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Pahala, died Nov. 24 in Sacramento. Born in Waimea, Kauai, he was a retired teacher for Sacramento City College, U.S. Army veteran and classic car and bonsai enthusiast. Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Affordable Cremation, 4750 Beloit Drive, Sacramento. No flowers. Memorial donations to local animal shelter. Survived by wife, Cindy Capellas; daughters, Leslie Haynes and Lanette Capellas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Its no small thing when grotesque mistakes and lies about them cost 2,300 lives and a trillion dollars, but thats what we got from U.S. officials who have kept us at war in Afghanistan for 18 years. A chief culprit is the Pentagon, of course, but also presidents, Congress and the State Department.
