Joseph “Joe” B. Alleman, 89, of Hilo died April 8 at home. Born in Church Point, La., he was a retired surgery paramedical assistant at Hilo Medical Center, member of Knights of Columbus and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou and U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War. Private services. Survived by son, Jeffery Alleman of Las Vegas; daughter, Brenda Maria (Joe) Binder of Spokane, Wash.; brother, James Allen (Beverly) Alleman of Louisiana; sister, Rita (Johnny) La Vergne of Louisiana; grandchildren, hanai children, nieces and nieces. Yaeko Hakoda, 94, of Keauhou died June 5 at home. Born in Kainaliu, she was a retired secretary for Hakoda’s Appliance. Private services at a later date.
