Project Hawai‘i Inc. is excited to announce it received a grant from the Hawaii Community Foundation under the Kuki‘o Community Fund to provide hundreds of homeless children with meals during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Project Hawai‘i Inc. is a volunteer-staffed nonprofit that operates on public donations to provide year round services to the homeless, unsheltered children around the island. In March, when stay-at-home orders were put in place, the nonprofit quickly put together a team of seven leaders to reach out to the more isolated families and those without adequate means to obtain resources, providing meals and hygiene to assure care for the keiki.

Once school was postponed, the team took the steps to assure keiki had their educational support in place, as well as delivering educational packets and fun activities to keep the children’s minds engaged.

Hawaii Community Foundation provided a grant to assure these children would have meals delivered and food boxes throughout the summer months.

Working in partnership with Target Stores and Y. Hata & Co., Project Hawai‘i Inc. has been able to make the food grant funding stretch to continue services.
