Hilo Intermediate School teachers and administrators on Wednesday gave out schedules and registered students for the upcoming school year.

Parents and students drove through at the front of the school to receive schedules, uniforms and extra information regarding learning and the upcoming academic year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schools are planning to reopen Aug. 4 with a blended model of face-to-face and distance learning.

Schools will continue safe practices, including social distancing and wearing masks as appropriate by age. Additionally, “ohana bubbles” will be extended to “school ohana bubbles,” meaning students should maintain consistent close contacts to limit exposure.
