Technical difficulties lead to incomplete COVID tally; 53 cases reported today so far

The state Department of Health reports 53 new COVID-19 cases today, although technical difficulties in the state’s case reporting system mean that number is an undercount.

The Department of Health intends to update the count with the full numbers later today.

With the partial numbers, the total number of cases statewide is 2815.

None of the partial count is from the Big Island, whose case total remains at 122. Kauai County also had no new cases, with a total of 47, Maui County had one new case, bringing it to 178 cases.

The remainder were on Oahu, where the case total is now at 2,445.

Of the total cases, 223 have required hospitalization and 29 have died. 1,433 have been released from isolation.
