Alice K. Fujimoto, 93, of Hilo died July 29 at home. Born in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the Church of the Holy Cross. Private family services held. Survived by son, Michael (Thuy) Fujimoto of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Joan Fujimoto, Roberta (Newton) Chu and Wendy (Peter) Matsuura, all of Hilo; brother, Samuel (Jane) Kurohara of California; sister, Helen Kanda of Guam; sister-in-law, Martha Kurohara of Hilo; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. John Nobuharu Ige, 82, of Pahoa died July 17 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born in Lanai, he was a retired painter, janitor, and groundskeeper with the University of Hawaii at Hilo and Hawaii Community College. Services to be held at a later date. James Bo Chong Siu Jr., 73, of Mountain View, died June 13 in Hoopuloa. Born in Pahala, he was a retired chef at various hotels and restaurants, worked at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and was a farmer. Private services held. Survived by son, Keola (Miho Ito) Siu of Lihue, Kauai; daughter, Pua Siu of Mountain View; mother, Lucy Siu of Hilo; sisters, Tuck Sun Bareng of California, Vivian Mark and Melva (Mark Crowell) Ahu of Hilo; brother, Leon (Malia Elliot) Siu of Honolulu; three grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Everette Lloyd Souza, 72, of Honokaa died July 20 at home. Born in Honokaa, he was a foreman with Hawaiian Electric, a member of the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the Hamakua Lions Club, a 4-H leader and former Hawaii County liquor commissioner. Visitation 8:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Honokaa Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Eulogy at 9:30 a.m. and Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the Souza family plot in Honokaa. Seating is limited, face masks and social distancing required. Casual attire. Bryan Tonga, 27, of Hilo died Aug. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Pohnpei, Micronesia, he was a graduate student in the University of Hawaii at Hilo’s Tropical Conservation Biology and Environmental Science program. Funeral services to be held in Pohnpei. Genevieve “Tootsie” Wheeler, 77, of Captain Cook died Aug. 8 at her residence. Born in Kealakekua, she was a night auditor at the former Kona Surf resort, a loan officer for First Hawaiian Bank, and a manager for an escrow company. Private services will be held.
