The county said in a release Monday, customers picking up mulch at East Hawaii organic facilities can proceed directly to the facility and bypass the scale, with mulch available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
All mulch loads must be covered prior to leaving the facility and all customers must adhere to Centers for Disease Control social distancing guidelines.
Mulch is available on the first Saturday each month from 7 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4:15 p.m., depending on supply.
Residential customers are allowed a maximum of one load of three cubic yards a day, which can be self-loaded for free or mechanically loaded.
Commercial customers can load mulch on the second Wednesday of each month from 7 a.m.-noon and 12:30-4:15 p.m., depending on supply.
Commercial customers aren’t allowed to self-load and will be charged a loading fee of $5 per cubic yard with a minimum of three cubic yards.
There are no limits to the amount of mulch a commercial customer can buy and multiple loads a day are acceptable.
The county will accept only debit and credit cards as payment.
