Carrie Ann Dayanan, 50, of Keaau died Aug. 23 at home. Born in Honolulu, she worked for Full Life Care as a direct support worker. Private services held by family. John Charlton FitzGerald II, 78, of Hakalau, died Aug. 28 at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was raised on Molokai Ranch and later lived in Yuba City, Calif., attended California Polytechnic State University, was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam and a Bronze Star recipient, worked in the Hawaii sugar industry, was a retired manager for Pacific Machinery on Maui, roper and rancher, co-founder of Hawaii Carriage Driving Society, past president of the Maui Rotary Club, current member of the Rotary Club of South Hilo, America Cowboy Team Roping Association, and a Paul Harris Fellow. Graveside service noon Monday, Aug. 31, in the pavilion at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Space is limited. Social distancing and face masks required. Celebration of life to be held at a later date. Survived by wife, Karen FitzGerald of Hakalau; sons, Michael (Leslie) FitzGerald of California, Kimo (Megan) Mant of Kurtistown; sisters, Polly Dye of Oregon, Diane Korsten of California; one grandson; nieces and nephews. Masato “Norman” Masaki, 96, of Hilo died July 10 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kapehu, he worked as a journeyman mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Company and retired from Fair Contracting Company. Private inurnment services were held. Helen Shigeko Uratani, 68, of Hakalau, died Aug. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was retired from Life Care Center of Hilo and a member of Kinoole Baptist Church. Private services. Georgia Oliveira Wong, 74, of Hilo died Aug. 15 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired customer service representative for Verizon Wireless, employed at the former Wang Laboratories and a member of Thy Word Ministries.
