24 inmates at HCCC to be released early because of pandemic

Twenty-four Hawaii Community Correctional Center inmates will be released early in order to mitigate a potential COVID-19 outbreak at the jail.

According to a statement by the county Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, the 24 inmates who were ordered to be released, pursuant to orders by the Hawaii Supreme Court, have been charged with or convicted of felonies largely including theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, forgery, felony drug possession, prohibited possession of illegal firearms and possession of firearms by felons.

While the order to release the 24 inmates was issued Wednesday, it is not clear whether they all have been released yet.

Of the 24 scheduled to be released, six are pretrial inmates who were ordered to have supervised releases.

Of the other 18, some were sentenced felony inmates and were granted temporary suspension of incarceration, with terms. Others were felony inmates pending a revocation of their probation and were ordered to be released with a future court date.

All of the released inmates were ordered to immediately contact their attorney or probation officer upon their release.

The 18 inmates who were convicted and will be released early are:

• Alika Sullivan,

• Marcus Tilton,

• and Roy David William.
