While the world might look a little different right now, one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to ending Alzheimer’s disease.
While the world might look a little different right now, one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to ending Alzheimer’s disease.
This year, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is everywhere — on every sidewalk, beach path, track and trail.
This year’s event will not be a large, in-person gathering. Instead, organizers invite everyone to walk in small teams of friends or family, while others in the community do the same.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, anyone who wants to participate can view the annual event’s opening and promise garden ceremony from the comfort of home, using an online platform accessible via the event’s website. Participants will then walk in their own neighborhoods or community, donned in purple, the official color of the Alzheimer’s Association.
People also can visit the view-only promise garden display outside Hilo Hawaiian Hotel from 10 a.m.-noon. Each flower planted represents walkers and their connection to Alzheimer’s.
Alzheimer’s isn’t waiting, so neither are we.
