Hilo Medical Center reports an additional coronavirus-related death associated with the outbreak at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, Hawaii County Civil Defense said this morning.
The death is the 25th from the veterans home cluster and the 27th for Hawaii County.
According to Civil Defense, the state Department of Health reports eight new active COVID-19 cases on Hawaii Island. Currently, 19 individuals are hospitalized on the Big Island for coronavirus-related illness.
A so-called “tiger team” from the Veterans Administration remains at the facility to support operations.
There are two COVID-19 drive-up testing sites scheduled for Wednesday. One is at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Enter through Kuawa Street. The other is at the Keauhou Shopping Center in Kona from 9 a.m.-noon.
