A Hilo couple was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of drug possession and for attempting to steal more than $1,000 in products from the Home Depot.
On Saturday, Sept. 19, two individuals — later identified as Spenser Jordan Feary, 33, and Taelilynn Mahina‘ohoku Harumi Leslie, 19 — attempted to leave Home Depot without paying for several items collectively worth more than $1,460.
When the two were confronted by a store employee, Feary and Leslie allegedly assaulted the employee and left without the merchandise.
Feary was subsequently found on Tuesday, Sept. 29, during a traffic stop. Officers allegedly found narcotics and drug paraphernalia within the vehicle.
Leslie was found the following day.
Feary and Leslie were both charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery, first-degree theft, and second-degree theft.
In addition, Feary was charged with three counts of third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, driving without a valid license, and one outstanding contempt of court charge. Leslie was also charged for two outstanding contempt of court warrants.
Feary’s bail was set at $131,400; Leslie’s was set at $45,450. Both remain in custody after initial court appearances earlier this week.
