Police are seeking for the public’s assistance to find a wanted 29-year-old Hilo man they consider “armed and dangerous.”

Gavin Kekoaokalani Calicdan is described as about 5-feet-9 inches, 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a dark-colored long-sleeved shirt and dark-colored baseball cap.

Police identified Calicdan as the driver of a stolen car they located Thursday morning in the parking lot of a Waianuenue Avenue apartment complex in Hilo. According to police, when officers approached the vehicle and identified themselves, Calicdan reversed into a police vehicle, accelerated forward, striking several items — including a building — then drove away.

Police say they found the stolen car was located, unoccupied, Thursday afternoon in Honokaa, but Calicdan had fled the area prior to officers’ arrival.

Two women police said were passengers in the car, 26-year-old Makena Rose Holloway of Kurtistown and 23-year-old Cassidy Taylor Leialii Hess of Hilo, were taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree theft.

Neither had been charged as of late this morning.

Police think Calicdan has a handgun, and caution members of the public not to approach him, but to immediately contact police.

Anyone with information on Calicdan’s whereabouts is asked to call the police non-emergency line at 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at 961-8300.
