The county Finance Department won a national award for financial reporting for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2019.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded its Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Finance Department for its comprehensive annual financial report. This is the 32nd year in a row the county has won the award.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management,” according to a GFOA press release.
To win the award, the Finance Department was judged by an impartial panel, demonstrating a “constructive spirit of full disclosure” in communicating the department’s financial story and motivating potential users to read its financial report.
Mayor Harry Kim expressed pride in the accomplishments of the Finance Department, led by Director Deanna Sako.
“This is the 32nd year that Finance has won this prestigious award; it shows how dedicated and professional our Finance people are,” Kim said.
“Congratulations to our great Finance folks for the wonderful job they do,” the mayor added.
