Kamehameha alum Joseph Hooper will be out of Temple’s football lineup for the second consecutive game Saturday when the Owls (1-6) finish the regular season against No. 7 Cincinnati.
After playing in Temple’s first six games – according to the school’s participation report – the Philadelphia Inquirer reported the senior 6-foot-5 offensive lineman from Keaau missed last Saturday’s game against East Carolina with an injury.
A transfer from Butler Community College in Kansas and 2017 Kamehameha grad, Hooper took over a starting role for the Owls late in the 2019 season.
Kanno eighth at Sony qualifier
Hilo’s Isaiah Kanno finished eighth in a Sony Open qualifier Monday at Waialae Golf Course on Oahu, finishing at 6-over 78.

Hilo High fundraiser
The Hilo High athletic department is holding a Kalua plate fundraiser.
At a cost of $11, pickup will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Dec. 12.

Golf benefit for Vulcans
The University of Hawaii Hilo Sports Medicine Makani Golf Tournament will be held Dec. 11 to help raise funds “for training room equipment and materials needed for Vulcan student-athletes to compete safely during this pandemic.”
The format is two-person team mixed at a cost of $500 per team. Golfers tee off at 11 a.m. after a 10 a.m. registration at Makani, located on the Hawaii Belt Road.
The field is limited to 25 teams and is close to being sold out. Fee includes a shared cart, tee prizes, a bento lunch, snacks and beverages and a gift bag.
