An armed standoff in Nanawale Estates subdivision, just outside of Pahoa, “has had a peaceful resolution,” according to Hawaii Police Department spokeswoman Denise Laitinen.
Laitinen had no further details as of 4 p.m. today about the resolution of the standoff, which started as a report at 1:41 p.m. Thursday of a reckless endangering situation involving an individual with a firearm firing shots from a home on Plumeria Street.
A number of area homes were evacuated.
Laitinen said the standoff with police wasn’t a hostage negotiation, but the situation continued during a large portion of the day.
