A flash flood advisory is in effect for much of eastern Hawaii Island.
The National Weather Service and Hawaii County Civil Defense advise residents of Hilo, Puna and Hamakua districts to be alert for localized flooding as heavy rain continues in those districts. Residents are warned to not attempted to cross fast-flowing or rising waters either in a vehicle or on foot.
The advisory will continue until at least 4:15 p.m. today.
The entire state is currently under a flash flood watch until at least tomorrow night, with heavy rains predicted throughout the next two days. East-facing shores across the state are also under a high surf advisory until tomorrow morning.
