Al “Taba” Duane Ah Sam, 63, of Kapaau died Feb. 9 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in North Kohala, he was a sand blaster and painter for Pacific Marine and Marisco Ltd. Visitation 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 20, at Kalahikiola Congregational Church in Kapaau. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Waianaia Cemetery. Casual attire. David Kaleimomi Carman, 75, of Mountain View, formerly of Kailua, Oahu, died Feb. 26 in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam War veteran and he worked for Worldwide Services Inc. and DynCorp to assist the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission with the cleanup of ordnance from Kahoolawe. Annette Loretta Freimuth, 81, of Naalehu died March 5 at home. Born in Oakland, Calif., she was a pediatrics licensed vocational nurse at Oakland Children’s Hospital and the former Kauikeolani Children’s Hospital in Honolulu, an administrative assistant for several companies in Northern California and member of St. Raymond’s Catholic Church, Wings Women’s Group and the church’s choir in Dublin, Calif. Vigil at 9:30 a.m. and prayer service and 10 a.m. April 8 at St. Raymond’s Catholic Church in Dublin, Calif. Interment to follow at Golden Gate Cemetery in San Bruno, Calif. Survived by daughter, Christine Ohulani Kaehuaea of Discovery Harbour; hanai brother, T.J. James of Discovery Harbour; hanai sister, Jackie Pickard of San Ramon, Calif.; a cousin. Isami Segawa, 91, of Hilo died March 2 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the state Department of Accounting and General Services, was employed by Isemoto Contracting Co. and a member of Higashi Hongwanji Mission. Private services held.
