Born in Ka‘u, he was a retired boilermaker supervisor for Hawaiian Independent Refinery, worked for the former Terminal Steel, was a U.S. Army veteran and member of International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, Iron Ship Builders, Blacksmiths, Forgers and Helpers Union Local 204 and past president and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission.
