Born in Chicago and raised in Pahala, he was a member of the New Hope Hilo Praise and Worship team, had a degree in culinary arts, and coached and refereed basketball. Gloria Figueroa Yates, 70, of Kailua-Kona died June 1 at her residence. Born in Hawaii, she was housekeeper for Angel’s Cleaning Service and various condominium units throughout Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa, a cosmetologist, and a security guard for Hawaii Community College and Securitas Security at courthouses in Kona and Waimea.
