The Hawaii Police Department is reminding the public that the one-way morning traffic pattern on Waianuenue Avenue in Hilo will resume on Tuesday and will be in effect on weekdays, 7:15 a.m. to 8 a.m.
This coincides with the opening of the Hilo High and Intermediate School campuses for in-person schooling for the fall semester. The one-way traffic pattern will begin at the Komohana Street intersection traveling east bound, or makai, down to Kamehameha Avenue.
Police will be increasing their traffic enforcement efforts during this time to ensure a safe transition back to the one-way traffic pattern. There is a $97 fine for those not obeying the one-way traffic pattern.
Police request the public drive with patience and aloha as the new school year begins.
