According to an update posted on the facility’s website Monday by Executive Director Mark Mann, an unvaccinated employee tested positive for the novel coronavirus on July 21.
One vaccinated resident tested positive for COVID-19 on July 24.
The one positive staff member was considered recovered by July 30.
By Aug. 1, 10 residents had tested positive following several rounds of testing.
“While we are saddened to have new COVID-19 cases, we are confident that our high vaccination statistics and stringent infection protocol measures will continue to serve us well,” Mann wrote in the update.
Mann did not respond to an email from the Tribune-Herald seeking comment.
Approximately 95% of residents and 80% of employees have been vaccinated.
Testing will continue twice per week for residents and employees.
According to the post, residents are monitored several times day and night for any symptoms or concerns. Associates also are screened for signs and symptoms when they arrive for work and when they leave.
In an outbreak last fall, prior to the availability of vaccines against the virus, 55 Life Care residents and 17 employees tested positive for COVID-19, and 10 residents died.
