Firefighters rescued three people and a dog after a recreational dingy partially submerged about 100 yards off the Hilo Bayfront early Saturday afternoon.
According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, eight units responded to the 12:51 alarm with the first unit arriving five minutes later.
The occupants of the boat were reportedly already in the water, while the dog remained in boat. An off-duty lifeguard reportedly used a personal watercraft to rescue the victims and take them to a rescue boat. They were taken to Wailoa Small Boat Harbor for medical evaluation. No injuries were reported.
The disabled dingy was towed ashore, according to the statement.
