Fire destroyed a vacant home on 6th Avenue in Hawaiian Paradise Park early Thursday morning.
According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, nine units responded to the 2:20 a.m. alarm with the first unit arriving nine minutes later to find the 1,250-square-foot single-family dwelling 100% involved in flames.
Firefighters took a defensive strategy to keep the blaze from spreading to other structures or brush, the statement said.
The fire was reported contained at 3:33 a.m. and extinguished at 7:05 a.m.
No injuries were reported and the estimated property loss was $149,500.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and the scene was turned over to police for investigation.
