A new emergency rule proposed by Hawaii County and under consideration by Gov. David Ige also outlines rules for restaurants, bars, food courts and other dining establishments; barber shops and beauty operators; and places of worship.
Restaurants
• Group dining is limited to 10 people per table, and seating must allow 6 feet of separating between groups seated at separate tables unless there is a solid barrier;
• Six feet of separating must be maintained between single customers or groups of less than five congregating at a bar;
• Customers will not be permitted to eat or drink except while sitting or standing at their table or bar, and must wear face coverings when stepping away from the table or bar where their food is served;
• Buffets, salad bars and other types of self-service of food or beverage are not allowed;
• Restaurants are encouraged to implement vaccination or testing requirements for employees and customers, among other practices.
Parks and
recreational facilities
• Senior classes are canceled, and senior club meetings and activities managed by the Elderly Activities Division or held at a Parks and Recreation facility are canceled through Oct. 4;
• Camping at county facilities is not permitted until further notice;
• Organized sports are not permitted to operate at any county facility;
• Skate parks also are closed;
• Liliuokalani Gardens will remain open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for those engaging in active outdoor exercise.
• Panaewa Equestrian Center is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily for those who have a valid horse stall agreement and are actively boarding at the facility or tending to their registered animals;
• Hilo Municipal Golf Course remains open for modified rules for play;
• Restroom facilities at Alae Cemetery, Bayfront soccer fields, Liliuokalani Gardens, Lincoln Park, Waikoloa Hooko Park and the tennis court area of Waimea Park will be open to those on foot from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, while the restrooms at Gilbert Kahele Recreation Area are available 24-hours; the Mo‘oheau bus terminal from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Veterans Cemetery No. 2 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Barber shops and beauty operators
• People should maintain at least 6 feet of physical separation from others to the fullest extent possible;
• No food or beverages, except water, shall be sold, kept for sale or stored in any salon.
Places of worship
• Individuals present at a service must maintain 6 feet of physical distance between others, except members of the same household; and
• Places of worship are encouraged to modify the methods used to receive financial contributions and avoid buffet or family-style meals if food is offered at any event.
Under the latest restrictions, nightclubs, large indoor and outdoor venues, and road races will remain closed.
