Joseph Jose Abril Sr., 89, of Hilo, formerly of Wailuku, Maui, died Sept. 12 at a private care home. He was a retired general foreman for Honolulu Shipyard, golfer and former member of Sandalwood Golf Course and Pukalani Country Club on Maui. Private services. Daisy Fumie Kugisaki, 97, of Honolulu died Sept. 2 in Honolulu. Born in Kapoho, she was retired from the former Miko Meats. Private services. Dolores Bernice Isabel Perreira Tavares, 93, of Hilo died Sept. 11 at home. Born in Pahoa, she was a secretary at Pepeekeo School, retired from Kalaniana‘ole Elementary and Intermediate School and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Young Ladies Institute, Portuguese Cultural Club, St. Joseph Catholic Church Aloha Choir and the Pokeno Club. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Mass at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Papaikou. Calvin “Cal” Tanouye,
74, of Hilo died July 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the owner of Cal’s 76 Service Station.
