Kulani Correctional Facility teamed up with the Lutheran Women’s Mission League of Christ Lutheran Church to sew quilts for the community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, KCF Warden Wanda Craig had the opportunity to purchase several industrial sewing machines. She collaborated with KCF librarian, Wendy Osborne, who is an LWML quilter.
The LWML quilters have been making quilts for the Yukio Okutsu Veterans State Home, Liberty Dialysis Hilo, the Pohai Malama Hospice and other care homes for 20 years.
This is the first year that Kulani’s Housing Workline has made quilts for the community.
Special thanks goes to Warden Wanda Craig, the Acting Chief of Security, Lt. Robert Francis, corrections supervisor Renee Ashby and housing supervisor ACO Laimana Mauga.
