This is a USGS video taken Saturday morning. The view is from the southern rim of Halema‘uma‘u crater inside Kilauea volcano.
Lava continues to erupt from a single vent on the western wall of the crater. Lava fountains within the cone and spills out of the cone opening, flowing east into the lake.
The western end of the lake had an elevation of approximately 793 meters (2,602 feet) above sea level this morning, according to the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
The lava lake has risen about 49 meters (161 feet) since Kilauea began erupting again on Sept. 29.
The total erupted volume of lava since the beginning of the eruption was estimated to be about 19.9 million cubic meters (5.3 billion gallons) on Oct. 15.
