A federal judge has sentenced a 46-year-old Puna man to more than nine years in prison for three methamphetamine distribution-related offenses that occurred between 2018 and 2020.
According to County Prosecutor Kelden Waltjen, U.S. District Court Judge Helen Gillmor handed down the sentence earlier this month to Maximillian Oleksiak, and also ordered Oleksiak be placed on five years supervision — the federal equivalent of probation, following his 110-month sentence.
“These investigations and prosecution
were the result of a combined effort by members of the Hawaii Police Department’s Area I and II Vice Sections, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Hawaii County prosecutors, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.” Waltjen said on Facebook.
