Firefighters extinguished a fire at a downtown Hilo art gallery early Sunday morning.
According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, seven units responded to a 6:14 a.m. alarm of heavy smoke at the Brokenhardened Gallery, 118 Kamehameha Ave. The first unit arrived five minutes later.
Firefighters were able to make a forced entry and “perform a rapid primary search through zero visibility conditions … to locate occupants and find the seat of the fire.”
No occupants were found and no injuries reported.
The fire was reported under control at 6:26 a.m. and extinguished at 6:29 a.m.
The statement contained no estimate of property losses.
