Lyle G. “Bud” Phillips Jr., 81, of Honomu, died July 7 in Florida. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired engineer and fleet manager for the former Hawaii Electric Light Co., former fleet administrator for Hawaiian Electric Co., president of Phillips Pacific Equipment, graduate of Punahou School and Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, U.S. Army National Guard veteran, served as master of Hawaiian Masonic Lodge on Oahu and Kilauea Masonic Lodge in Hilo and was state Grand Master of Masons in 2003-2004, and was active in Shriners, Shrine Club, York Rite and Jesters. Celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 16) at Hawaii Yacht Club, 1739C Ala Moana Blvd. in Honolulu. A Masonic service will be held on Hawaii Island at a future date. No flowers.
