Francis Shogo Abe, 86, of Kealakekua, died Dec. 10 at Marites Care Home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired customer service agent for the former Aloha Airlines, member of Kingsley Kumiai and Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, and U.S. Army veteran. Survived by wife, Kathleen Abe of Kealakekua; sons, Steven Abe of Honolulu and Neil (Michelle) Abe of Kealakekua; daughter, Leanne Abe of Kealakekua; sister, Grace Hiraoka of Palo Verdes, Calif.; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Lucia Caumiran Saplad Alapag, 103, of Aiea, Oahu, died Oct. 18 in Hilo. Born in Stotsenburg Camp, Philippines, she worked at the former Pearlridge Hospital starting in the laundry room, and retiring as a licensed practical nurse. Visitation 8:45-9:45 a.m. Thursday Jan. 6, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 1525 Waimano Home Rd., Pearl City, Oahu.
