The Department of Health today reported the highest number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day both statewide and on the Big Island.

The DOH has reported 3,484 new infections statewide, 242 of which were on the Big Island.

The previous Big Island record for most new cases in a single day was 206, set during the delta spike earlier this year. The previous statewide record was set Sunday at 2,177.

Six more patients were hospitalized statewide today. No new COVID-related deaths were reported today.
