Hawaii congressional delegation seeks fuel-leak probe

HONOLULU — The four members of Hawaii’s congressional delegation said Wednesday they are asking the Department of Defense’s inspector general to investigate whether the Navy properly investigated and notified state authorities about a fuel leak at Pearl Harbor.

Businesses near UH-Manoa welcome return of fans

HONOLULU — Some businesses near the University of Hawaii’s Manoa campus are hoping the return of fans to home football games in the neighborhood will help revitalize the community.

Police arrest 33 for DUI

During the week of Oct. 25-31, Hawaii Island police arrested 33 motorists for DUI. Ten of the drivers were involved in a traffic accident. One was younger than 21.

Finally, the VA seems to be getting the message

It was heartening to hear Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough recently announce an ambitious but doable goal: to house — in permanent homes, not just temporary motel rooms — 500 homeless veterans in the Los Angeles area by the end of the year. He also pledged to get temporary housing, at least, for the 40-some people, mostly veterans and their partners, living in a tent encampment along a stretch of San Vicente Boulevard in Brentwood that borders the campus of the West L.A. VA.

Congressional reform is needed

Forget Congress. It has become a joke. Trusting it with the American future is like trusting Donald Trump to retire from bombast. Perhaps I exaggerate, but a screech or two for help is needed because we are right now witnessing a degeneration that bodes poorly for all of us, even for leftists screeching to make things worse.
