Parents allowed at BIIF contests

The BIIF athletic directors met Tuesday and set fan guidelines for girls volleyball and football. Parents, only of athletes, on a 2-to-1 ratio, will be eligible to attend cross-country starting Saturday while attendance for girls volleyball and football will begin Monday, Oct. 25.

Court packing not completely off table

It should be no surprise to anyone that the Biden administration’s commission on Supreme Court reform seems poised to offer recommendations that will not endorse packing the court. After all, the commission was born of Joe Biden’s desire during the presidential campaign not to commit himself to adding new justices. It was populated with distinguished legal scholars and members of the bar, most of whom share a meaningful commitment to the preservation of our legal institutions.

FDA OKs mixing vaccines; backs Moderna, J&J boosters

WASHINGTON — U.S. regulators on Wednesday signed off on extending COVID-19 boosters to Americans who got the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine and said anyone eligible for an extra dose can get a brand different from the one they received initially.

KDEN’s ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ available online

In August, Kilauea Drama &Entertainment Network was in production with our annual summer musical, Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance. After 15 months without being able to do a show, being allowed to rehearse together and perform was a return to some sense of normal for the cast, crew and orchestra. The audience delighted in the show and the ability to go out and enjoy a live performance. COVID-19 protocols were in place with social distancing, mask wearing, and temperature checks and sanitation stations at the door.
