Would-be plane thief ordered to take mental exam

A 24-year-old Pahoa man accused of trying to steal an airplane at Hilo International Airport told police he always wanted to be a pilot and needs to tell everyone he has the cure for cancer, according to court documents.

Hilo lawyers honored for service at Self-Help Center

At the Hawaii County Bar Association’s virtual Hilo Self-Help Center Recognition Awards in July, 31 attorneys were recognized for providing more than 470 free consultations to people who sought legal assistance in 2020. Honolulu to require vaccine or negative test at restaurants

HONOLULU — Seeking to beat back a COVID-19 surge, Honolulu will soon require patrons of restaurants, bars, museums, theaters and other establishments to show proof of vaccination or a recent negative test for the disease, the city’s mayor said Monday.
