Richard “Dick” Lee Dresie, 84, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 1 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Hutchison, Kan., he was a retired salesman and department store decorator for Valley Decorating Company in California, holiday decorations planner for Ala Moana and Pearlridge shopping centers, various Oahu banks and other businesses on all Hawaiian Islands, freelance writer for West Hawaii Today and author of the book “Let’s Go Shore Dive’n’,” Kona Aloha Patrol organizer and U.S. Navy veteran. Services at a later date. Survived by wife, Phyllis Dresie of Kailua-Kona; sons, David Young of Boynton Beach, Fla., Francis (Julie) Linnehan of Chelmsford, Mass., Mark Dresie of Telluride, Colo., amd Lee (Linda) Dresie of Los Angeles.; daughter, Stephanie Dresie of Eugene, Ore.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. James “Kimo” M. McCarroll, 50, of Kawaihae died Dec. 28 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Hilo, he was a skilled tradesman in automobile and heavy equipment mechanics. Services at a later date. Patricia Leorin Salmo, 87, of Naalehu died Nov. 25 at home. Born in Naalehu, she was a former counter helper for Lily’s Place and former cook for Taguchi Shoppe. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 22) at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Urn burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire.
